Independence

Rankings are set by our published criteria and the evidence. Vendors can report factual errors but never see scores before publication. There are no paid placements or paid reviews.

Free products, trials and demo accounts

When we receive a free product, a trial extension or a demo account, the review says so.

Conflicts of interest

Researchers never see commission rates while scoring. Editors declare any personal connection to a vendor and step back from that review.

Updates and corrections

Pages are re-checked on a schedule: software and security every two to three months, consumer tech every three to four, home and hardware every six. Score changes of three points or more and every verdict change are listed on our corrections page.
